Frequently Asked Questions:
The most often asked question is "Are Laser Jammers Legal?" Currently it is perfectly legal to sell them (and use them) here, in Western Australia, however you will not find any radar detector or laser jammer retailers in Victoria, NSW, NT, SA or Tasmania, because it's illegal to even advertise them for sale in those states! This doesn't mean that you can't buy a Laser Jammer from us and use it at your own discretion. In NSW you can buy and use "Laser Parking Assist" devices, even if they do accidentally mess with police laser guns. All you need to do is convince the judge that it really is a parking assist device.
The reason why Laser Jammers are illegal in those states is simple. "DON'T MESS WITH THE CASH COW!!" Your hard earned cash does wonders for cash strapped states like Victoria who are speed camera and laser gun mad for your money.

Are there any safety issues with using the BLINDER laser jammer Units?
WARNING! Do not look directly into the BLINDER M27 / M47 with the naked eye at close range.
You wont see anything, but you might cause eye damage after prolonged exposure as the BLINDER
M27 / M47 emits high-power infra red (IR) light, which is not visible to the human eye.
PARKING SENSOR MODE - Always be aware and watch for hidden objects near the car such as
children and animals that may not be detected by the system. Please use common sense and
visually survey in all parking situations and do NOT rely 100% on the Park Assist feature.
Visual observation is always the safest way to use parking sensor systems.
IMPORTANT: While the system is in parking mode, the laser unit will NOT respond to any
incoming laser pulses!

Why is the BLINDER X-TREME series better than previous models and competitor products?
Answer: Firstly, many competitor products are based on BLINDER intellectual property and are therefore, in our opinion, illegal copies of BLINDER's International patented technology. BLINDER is in the process of taking legal action against some of those companies in violation and there will be more to follow.
WARNING - If you are considering purchasing a multipurpose laser system, be aware that parts and service may become unobtainable due to Customs blocks and legal action.
Secondly, the BLINDER X-TREME (X series) is a significant technological leap ahead of the BLINDER 25 & 45 models. New laser emitters have been developed and included in the X series that are far more powerful than previous models. The X series has higher performance at detecting incoming laser emissions while at the same time reducing the possibility of background interference from normal sunlight. Upgrade your BLINDER 25 & 45 models and take advantage of these technological advances.

I own a radar detector that is capable of detecting laser speed guns. Why should I bother buying a laser jammer?
Answer: - No radar detector will give you enough time to react and slow down before a speed reading is calculated and displayed on the laser speed gun or speed camera. Without a laser jamming function, "Your Goose is Cooked."
Radar is being used less and less for speed detection over the last few years. In a few more years radar will no longer used for speed detection. Western Australia will no longer use radar speed detection by the end of 2010! Laser systems offer much better technology for differentiating speeding cars in heavy traffic and don't get easily confused by bouncing reflections as is the case with radar. Radar detectors are history!

Can I import a BLINDER X-TREME from a different country to get around tax charges?
Answer: To avoid cross compatibility issues the hardware is designed to only accept firmware upgrades from the country of sale. It is not advisable to purchase a BLINDER model from one country and try and use it in another.
Each regional police service uses specific makes and models of LIDAR speed detectors. You could however, purchase a Universal CPU from BLINDER International which has all LIDAR devices on the market installed in its firmware. But before you go jumping at this as an alternative, bear in mind that there is a big down-side to using a Universal CPU. The in-built filtering in this CPU is WIDE OPEN to cater for all the LIDAR threats in the world. This means that it may be prone to false alarms which is not what anyone wants.
If you are thinking of dodging taxes and importing a BLINDER unit from another country, don't! It is a waste of time and money. You will not achieve excellent protection due to incorrect firmware and filtering issues. Buy the BLINDER model designed for the country in which you drive!.

Can the system perform it's parking assist function when in laser detection mode?
Answer: No, you can select either mode, but both modes cannot be used at the same time. The setup and mode changes can be selected via the firmware upgrade software using a laptop or desktop computer.

Will laser jammer systems work best in full daylight or at night?
Answer: Infrared light is also part of the normal spectrum of sunlight. The brighter the day, the more infrared light is scattered about which jammer circuitry needs to content with. It is therefore true that all laser jammer's (even the poor performers) will work best in lower light conditions due to the absence of the sun.

What is the range of the system in parking sensor mode?
Answer: The parking sensor is a close proximity warning system. The BLINDER system will detect different objects with uneven effectiveness depending on the color of
the object. Bright objects reflect much better compared to dark, and will therefore allow earlier detection
and warning. The BLINDER system will not detect and alert on glass or other transparent materials.
Be especially cautious when parking close to shop windows and similar transparent objects.
Always be
aware and watch for hidden objects near the car such as children and animals that may not be detected
by the system. Please use common sense and visually survey in all parking situations and do NOT rely
100% on the Park Assist feature. Visual observation is always the safest way to use parking sensor systems.
IMPORTANT: While the system is in parking mode, the laser unit will NOT respond to any incoming laser pulses!

Are the CPU and Transponder units waterproof?
Answer: The transponder units are water proof and are designed to be placed on the exterior of the vehicle. This is not true for the CPU module which is designed to be installed in a dry cool area such as the interior of the vehicle. If you don't follow the installation instructions carefully, you may void your warranty.

 |
Can I use a BLINDER Laser System on a motorcycle?
Answer: Yes, you can use a BLINDER Laser System on a motorcycle. The only thing you need to remember is that the CPU is not water proof, so it must be enclosed in a water tight enclosure to avoid water damage and warranty problems.

I bought a BLINDER M25 a while ago. Can I use the replacement parts from the X-TREME series in my M25?
Answer: No, the technological upgrades make the two systems incompatible. The X-TREME series transponders and CPU cannot be used in the BLINDER M25 or BLINDER M45.

 |
I bought a BLINDER M27, can I purchase a third transponder and convert my system into a three transponder system?
Answer: Yes, it is possible to purchase a third or fourth transponder and connect this to a BLINDER M27

When I buy my BLINDER Laser System, can I have it installed by a professional installer? Do you have a list of preferred installers in Australia?
Answer: Yes, we have a list of preferred installers in every state of Australia. It's very important to mount all transponders carefully since the transmitting and receiving infra red laser beam will not pass through any interfering objects. It is essential that all transponders have a clear and unobstructed view of the road, pointing straight ahead, mounted horizontal and parallel to the road surface and driving direction.
Our preferred installers understand these technical issues that need to be addressed with BLINDER installations. Our installers have also agreed to a standard installation fee for the M27 and M47 X-TREME laser systems. Our preferred installers guarantee their workmanship so you can rest assured that the job is done right!

Which LIDAR speed measuring equipment has the BLINDER been tested against?
Answer: We have a very thorough list of all LIDAR equipment used in each country and the BLINDER models have been tested against all of these units. Each country has different requirements which is why we have taken the time and effort to make upgradeable software for each country. You can download the correct software for your country here.
